These Terms govern your use of wvleather.co.za and any purchase made on the site. By browsing, placing an order or making payment you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Contact & legal notices.
The site is owned and operated by a South African sole proprietor trading as WV Leather & Shoes (“WV Vellies”, “we”, “us”). Our contact details for all notices, returns and privacy queries are hello@wvleather.co.za and 072 695 3484. Our Information Officer for POPIA is Wilmo Vermeulen, reachable on the same contact details.
Orders, prices and payment.
Payment is due before an order is accepted and processing begins. Prices and delivery charges are shown at checkout before payment; we reserve the right to correct obvious errors or cancel where pricing/stock errors occurred, in which case any amounts received will be refunded. An electronic order confirmation will be sent to the email provided.
Lead times and delivery.
Most handmade footwear and handbag orders require approximately 14 working days to prepare before dispatch. Delivery time thereafter depends on destination and the courier’s network, especially in outlying areas. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery to the address you provide; ownership passes only once payment clears. Please check parcels on delivery and report visible transit damage to hello@wvleather.co.za within 48 hours, with photos, so that we can assist with a courier claim.
Returns: size exchanges.
We offer exchanges only for incorrect sizes as a customer-service policy. To qualify, you must notify us within 7 calendar days of delivery; the item must be unworn, undamaged and returned in its original packaging with all accessories and tags. All courier costs for size exchanges (both directions) are for the customer’s account. Exchanges depend on stock availability; if the required size is unavailable we may offer an alternative or a time-limited store credit.
No refunds (subject to law).
We do not provide refunds for change-of-mind, incorrect size, or wear-and-tear once used. This policy does not limit your rights in terms of South African law; where the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (CPA) or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 25 of 2002 (ECTA) grants you a refund, repair or replacement, those rights will apply.
Quality, defects and your statutory remedies.
Our goods must be of good quality, reasonably durable and fit for purpose. If a product is defective or fails to meet these standards within six months of delivery, you are entitled—at your election—to a repair, replacement or refund in terms of the CPA. If a repair fails within three months, we will replace or refund. To report a defect, email hello@wvleather.co.za with your order number, a description and clear photos; we may arrange collection to assess the item. The following are not defects: natural leather marks and colour variation, fair wear and tear, damage due to misuse/neglect/water exposure contrary to care instructions, unauthorised alterations or repairs, and sizing issues where the size supplied matches the order confirmation.
Custom or personalised items.
Where an item is made or altered to your specifications (for example, non-standard sizes, special colours/finishes, engraving or sole changes), it may not be returned or refunded unless defective under the CPA. We will indicate on the product page or during checkout when an item is regarded as “custom” or “personalised”.
Cooling-off rights.
If you concluded the transaction online, ECTA may grant a 7-day cooling-off right from the date of delivery or conclusion of the agreement (whichever is later), excluding custom/personalised goods and other statutory exceptions. If you purchased as a result of direct marketing, the CPA provides a 5 business-day cooling-off period. Where a valid cooling-off right is exercised, you must return the goods in their original condition and we will process the refund within the time allowed by law.
Care, use and warranties.
Leather is a natural material; colour and grain may vary. Please follow our care guidance (cleaning, drying and conditioning). Our store policy includes a 7-day manufacturing warranty from delivery for obvious workmanship issues, but your six-month CPA remedies remain available and prevail if applicable.
Privacy (POPIA).
We collect and process the personal information you provide in order to take and fulfil orders, arrange delivery, handle exchanges/returns, communicate about your purchase and comply with legal obligations. We implement appropriate security safeguards, keep data only as long as reasonably necessary, and honour your rights to access, correct or object to processing. Requests may be directed to our Information Officer, Wilmo Vermeulen, at hello@wvleather.co.za. By using the site you consent to this processing. See our Privacy Notice for more detail.
Use of the website and intellectual property.
All content on wvleather.co.za (including text, product images, graphics and logos) is owned by or licensed to us and may not be copied, adapted or used without our written consent. You may not use the website for unlawful purposes, introduce malicious code, or attempt to interfere with its security or operation.
Limitation of liability.
To the extent allowed by South African law, we will not be liable for indirect, special, incidental or consequential losses arising from your use of the site or products. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where the CPA prohibits such limitation (including liability for defective goods causing harm).
Force majeure.
We are not responsible for delays or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including load-shedding, supplier shortages, courier strikes, extreme weather or network failures. We will take reasonable steps to mitigate and keep you informed.
Complaints and dispute resolution.
If you have a complaint, please contact hello@wvleather.co.za. If we cannot resolve it, you may refer the matter to the Consumer Goods & Services Ombud or the National Consumer Commission in terms of the CPA.
Changes, governing law and jurisdiction.
We may update these Terms from time to time; the version posted at checkout when you place your order applies to that order. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and you consent to the jurisdiction of the Magistrates’ Court (or, at our election, a competent division of the High Court) for any dispute arising from them.
